Quinton de Kock got the captainship for the Test squad of South Africa in January of this year. His achievement was to stand aside from the leadership of Faf du Plessis. Many peoples think that The wicketkeeper-batsman is about to take on the responsibility of the Proteas Test team again.. But at least that is not happening in the next two years.

After becoming The South African board’s director of cricket for the next two years, Graeme Smith has said, “One thing I can say for sure is that Quinton will be our white-ball captain. He will not lead the Test team. We want Quinton to play better cricket with full of beans.”

Smith, assuredly wants to do it just for the better of De Kock. What Smith wants is not to de-stress De Kock with too much pressure. From his own experience, Smith says, “From the time I was captain, I realized that it was very challenging to captain in three editions at a time. I see many countries trying to figure out what is right. It seems to me that keeping one captain in three versions may not work very well. “

Smith sees much potential on De Kock had played for South Africa’s 47 Tests, 121 ODI’s and 44 Twenty20 matches. Not to prematurely destroy it with too much pressure, the former Proteas captain said: “Thinking of hard work and mental ability, it seems to us that it is not profitable for him to be captain in three editions. And the kind of player and personality he has, we think we need to give him more flexibility.”
